Wall Patching

Finally getting to some of the smaller todos around the house.
A little back story before I get to the project. Last fall during our first freeze we left our hose hooked up. The next day I tried to use it and it was frozen solid. Of course, as soon as I opened the valve it froze the water in the pipe as well and it cracked. I Didn’t know it till about mid-November when I went to use the water. I opened the valve and water started spraying, Right through the sheetrock and blasted my son playing on his computer.
The faucet got replaced but I have been a little busy on other projects to get to the drywall. With a secret project we are working on, we had to get it done.

The hole was a little messy so I started with my speed square and drew a more square outline. I used Tool Shop® Oscillating Multi-Tool to cut out the rest of the drywall I didn’t need. and then off to Menards to get a scrap piece of drywall.
You’ll notice in this picture there are some metal clips. These are SHEETROCK Drywall and Ceiling Repair Clips and are a lifesaver and Thank to my wife for finding them. Rather than the old fashion method of sticking a paint stirrer on the backside Check out the Go live I put on my Facebook page below.

Aside from the new sheetrock holder, the patch job was fairly routine. I cut the Drywall pieces and mounted them. Some good ol drywall mud to smooth it out and fill in the cracks. I actually did two layers of that. The last thing to do was to covered it up with some texture in a can. That’s it for this post. When the super-secret project is done I will let you all know!
